I write about human drives, not hyperdrives. In my fiction as well as in real life.
Stay up-to-date
I write (mostly) about three things, in order of frequency.
Writing about writing, because I care about the craft and sharing what I’ve learned, hopefully helping new writers avoid a lot of stupid and costly mistakes. The internet is full of stupid writer tricks and bad advice based on luck and neither have a place here. (So You Wanna Be A Writer). All of these posts are free but go behind a pay-wall four weeks after being published.
Random musings on culture, politics, and the world (and my dogs) based on my “unique” perspective as an unhyphenated American turned science fiction writer. (Monalisa’s Musings, the main section). Most of these posts are free but go behind a pay-wall after four weeks after being published.
Memories of my life in communist Romania. (Pretending to Sleep, named after my best-selling short story) as well as comparisons with today’s culture and society where I see the same things happening in the US. All of these posts are free but go behind a pay-wall four weeks after being published. I don’t write a ton of them for several reasons, one of which is the emotional toll they take on me and the fact that people like cheery stuff, not depressing stuff, no matter how much they may say otherwise.
Excerpts from my works in progress have been archived as I separate out my readership from readers of my work and other writers who follow me for posts on the craft of writing.
